In monocottura, a single firing process is used that combines different multiple stages of tile production into a singular cycle. Once the shaping and drying is done, the tile is glazed and then fired at a high temperature in a kiln.

In the high-temperature kiln firing, the body and glaze are fired together, allowing them to bond physically and chemically. The simultaneous fusion ensures that the surface layer is not just applied superficially but rather becomes an integral part of the tile itself.

As both the elements are fired together, the resultant tiles are more resistant to wear and have better internal consistency, making them suitable for both commercial and residential spaces.
