Paper Face Mounted

Paper face mounted tiles refer to a special tile format in which small tiles are prearranged into sheets and are held together by a temporary paper face that is applied to the front of the tiles. This method is generally used in the case of mosaic tiles. The fixed paper on the face of the tiles allows for the whole sheet to be handled and positioned carefully as a single unit during installation.

Paper face mounting is different from mesh mounting in installation. Instead, here, the paper is a temporary support that is removed once the tiles are bonded to the adhesive, while mesh-mounted mosaics are installed with an intact mesh sheet. This approach is particularly useful where precision, clean surface presentation, and accurate alignment are essential.

Working of the Method

With paper face mounted, mosaics chips are arranged to form a pattern, with proper spacing and orientation. This is then covered with a removable paper facing on the front. During installation, the tiles are carefully bonded to the substrate with adhesive, while the paper in the front remains intact to ensure the integrity of the layout. It is then removed once the adhesive has set sufficiently to secure the tiles in place. Some pros of this method include:
