High-Quality Border Tile to Define Your Space with Style
We offer wall and floor border tiles in varying designs to satisfy diverse installation requirements. Our customer service team is always on hand to provide expert advice on choosing the right products for your specific needs. Here is a sneak peek at what you’ll find in stock:
1. Pencil Border Tile:
A small yet mighty design element, pencil tile frames, highlights, zones, and finishes tiled surfaces. It has a slender, slightly rounded profile that adds a subtle decorative touch without detracting from the stretch of tiles used alongside it.
2. Bullnose Border Tile:
Noticeable by its rounded edge on the outward side, bullnose tile trim adds depth and character. It can act as a closing detail to eliminate sharp corners on stair edging, along the top edge of a tiled wall, or where tile meets a different surface finish. Like all other profiles we stock, bullnose options can easily coordinate with standard ceramic tiles.
For example, our Teal Green 1x8 Glossy Ceramic Bullnose Tile Trim can be bought together with the Ocean Green 2.5x8 Glossy Subway Ceramic Tile and Ocean Green 5x5 Glossy Subway Ceramic Tile.
3. Chair Rail Border Tile:
Traditionally, chair rail molding was a common element of interest in dining rooms and living rooms, used to line a wall horizontally to protect it from chair scuffs. Today, this border tile has a place in kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas of the home, not just as a protective piece but as a decorative detail alongside standard Bardiglio, Thassos, Carrara, Nero Marquina, Crema Marfil, and Calacatta marble tile.
4. Baseboard Border Tile:
A baseboard tile trim can be added to finish a flooring installation by joining it to a tiled or non-tiled wall. Those designed for this purpose have a coved foot at the base and can be found in the same style as our standard marble tiles.
For instance, Black 4x12 Polished Marble Baseboard Tile Trim can serve as a merging piece where Black 4x12 Polished Subway Marble Tile wall application meets White with Gray Vein 24x48 Matte Porcelain Large Format Tile flooring.
Shop Border Tiles for a Touch of Refinement
Border tile, also referred to as a trim or profile, is a finishing piece that runs along the edges of a tile field during installation. These borders, crafted from ceramic, glass, and marble, are a reliable way to secure your tiling, protecting it from moisture infiltration and ensuring it lasts a lifetime. Our selection spans from sleek, contemporary designs with curved endings to more ornate styles, catering to a wide range of aesthetic preferences.
Let’s explore the benefits that our decorative border tiles for bathroom, kitchen, and living room design offer:
-
Aesthetic Appeal and Definition
-
Assortment of Materials and Styles
To really nail that authentic Moroccan vibe, find ceramic border tiles that coordinate well with our Zellige tile collection. We also carry wooden glass trim pieces to add a closing detail to a hardwood tile installation. Or opt for chair rail border tile to tie your wall and floor design together with an elaborate touch of elegance. Whatever your style, we’ve got stylish materials offering plenty of scope for a truly individual finish.
-
Enhanced Durability and Protection
Border tiles can be installed to run the length of a tiled wall or floor and conceal exposed edges and corners. In doing so, they guard against moisture and chipping. With renowned durability, water-resistance, and minimal upkeep, your installation can last for decades.
It’s often the small details that make the biggest difference. Border tiles are more than a simple enhancement—they can elevate your tile installation with just the right touch of refinement. Whenever you order from Apollo Tile’s online tile store, you can add trims and finishes as well. Each collection we offer will have various coordinating edge profiles so you don’t end up with a less–than–polished look!
Use a pencil trim as a delightful transition piece between contrasting tiles or to provide a visual break to a large tiled area. In love with a patterned mosaic tile but worried it will cause visual overwhelm. Do not fret! Frame the design with a border tile in a more manageable format, whether as a focal point on a tiled bathtub surround or kitchen backsplash.
Another example is a half-tiled wall, where chair rail molding can conceal the edges and add that coveted wow factor, thanks to its pronounced profile. To sum up, our stunning range of border tiles can do this and more for anyone looking to turn their tilework into a showcase of sophistication.
Areas of Application for Tile Borders
Our border wall tiles are the ultimate pièce de résistance for all your kitchen, bathroom, living room, or bedroom needs. Here’s how they can be introduced into your space:
-
Border Wall Tiles for Kitchens:
Use a sleek border detailing to draw attention to the backsplash, either along its perimeters or within tiled expanses.
-
Border Tiles for Bathrooms:
For wet areas like bathrooms, go for waterproof material to prevent seepage. Pencil and bullnose border tile for shower design can be used as a decorative detail along the edges of a tiled niche or bench. Other areas to add a border tile include the edges of a dado wall or to frame an inlaid patterned mosaic on the vanity backsplash.
-
Border Tiles for Living Rooms:
Interesting borders can be integrated into floors to transition between different flooring styles, border a tile rug, or conceal joints where the floor and wall meet. On vertical surfaces, they are a great detail to add to the edges of a tiled fireplace or frame the opening of the firebox.
Care and Maintenance for Border Tiles
- ∙Clean border tiles for bathroom and kitchen walls with a soft cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner.
- ∙Avoid harsh chemicals, acidic cleaners, and abrasive cleaning tools to preserve the beauty of the finish.
- ∙For marble border tiles, seal once or twice a year to safeguard against moisture, stains, and scratches.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What types of materials work best with border tiles?
The beauty of border wall tiles is that they can work with various materials, including ceramic, glass, and natural stone. You can complement or contrast your tile installation depending on the look you desire for your space.
2. How do you cut and fit border tiles for bathroom?
Should you need to cut your border tiles, use a wet saw with a diamond blade. A miter box is a safe choice to achieve angled cuts. Align the pieces along the perimeter of a tiled wall or wherever they are intended using a tile adhesive. Grout as you would standard tiles and allow to completely dry before cleaning the area.
3. How big are border tile profile pieces?
Baseboard tile, which is more pronounced than the rest of the trims we carry, measures 4x12 inches with a thickness of 10mm. Our pencil liners measure 0.5x8 inches and are the thinnest of them all.
4. What size border tile trim do you use for installation?
It’s advised to use edging trim that’s 1mm to 1.5mm bigger than the wall tile thickness to account for deviation and adhesive. So if you’re installing tile with a thickness of 8mm, a 10mm trim would be ideal.
5. How much border tile do I order for my tiling project?
To find out how much trim you need, find the length of each side of your wall and/or floor and divide by the length of the border tile. Make sure to order extra product in case of breakage during installation.
6. Can I skip using border tiles for wall installation?
A border tile isn’t necessary for installations where the tile meets flush against other surfaces. In all other cases, the tile will look rough and jagged without an edge treatment. Our tile profiles give exposed edges and corners a polished and professional finish.
